To get the most from them, you should try to use them in sentences, or discuss them with friends. Writing something on Twitter or Weibo is a great way to practice!

- Ancient History: Herodotus: ancient Greek historian. Wrote the first "objective" history in the West, so called the "father of history."
- Irregular Verbs: Carpenters build houses. They built hundreds last year. We cannot count how many they have built.
- Idiom: Davy Jones's Locker: bottom of the sea. A: "What happened to his body when he died at sea?" B: "He was buried in Davy Jones' Locker."
- Pop Culture: Allen, Woody: (b. 1935) American director, actor, comedian and author. His over 40 films often portray the struggles of modern people.
- Slang: guy troubles: or "girl troubles," problems in a relationship. A: "What's wrong?" B: "Guy troubles." A: "You need a better boyfriend!"
- Government: Democrat: member of the more liberal of America's two political parties (the other is "Republican"). Obama is a Democrat.
